Welcome & Volunteer Information
Welcome to the Low Barns Volunteer Task Force site. Our site contains photos taken during tasks carried out by the Durham Wildlife Trust volunteers, staff, and VROs based at Low Barns. We also have a fantastic team of Visitor Centre Volunteers that run the Low Barns Visitor Centre.
We manage 11 nature reserves across West Durham - ranging from upland woodland, open heathland to reedbeds. The team also supports the Heart of Durham project and helps to manage several Northumbrian Water sites including Derwent Reservoir. The Rainton Meadows Volunteer Task Force manages our nature reserves in East Durham and we work together on big tasks and come together for training days. Go to the What we do? page if you would like to find out more on the type of work we do throughout the seasons.
Tasks run every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and two Saturdays per month! We meet at Low Barns and pick up at Crook Market Place for all tasks, plus other pick ups are available depending on the task location.
We hope the photos will give you a flavour of what's involved in volunteering with the Durham Wildlife Trust. It is also a great place to find out about upcoming tasks and training days! If you're interested in finding out more then please contact Graeme Middleton on 01388 488728 or email Graeme at lowbarnsvolunteers@durhamwt.co.uk
