We've done our best to create a website packed with useful information. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If you do not find an answer to your question here, please contact us on 01388 488728 or lowbarnsvolunteers@durhamwt.co.uk

How do I contact you?

Ring us on 01388 488728 or email lowbarnsvolunteers@durhamwt.co.uk

Why don’t I receive Emails from you?

Make sure your spam filter is set up to allow mail from lowbarnsvolunteers@durhamwt.co.uk and check your spam folder in case the message you’re expecting is in there.

Do I need any prior experience?

NO!! Just a willingness to learn new stuff and enjoy yourself!

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

Strong boots or wellies (boots are best), waterproofs, warm clothing, packed lunch and plenty of fluids to drink.

Where do I go on my first day?

If you are meeting at Low Barns then head for the volunteer room and make yourself a cuppa tea.  We have new volunteers joining the team every week so you will never be ‘new’ for long!

I dont drive or have access to a car, how can I get on task?

We pick up at Crook Market Place at 9.45am for all tasks.  The Market Place in Crook is a hub for buses from the surrounding area. The pick up location in crook is the vehicle entrance to the market place/ car park.

Can I claim travel expenses?

We are very sorry but we are unable to cover travel expenses.

Can I Meet you on site rather than meeting at Low Barns?

Yes! You can meet us on site for all task locations.  The Tasks this Week page provides you with times and links to google maps.

How do I find out what Tasks are running each week?

We update the Tasks this Week page, send a weekly email on a Monday and you can also receive a weekly text over the weekend. If you are not receiving emails or texts please contact us. Information on training days and events are also sent out via email and text.

What days of the week do tasks run on?

We have a task every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and two Saturdays per month (usually the second and forth Saturday of the month).

How long is the 'volunteering' day?

We work from 10am till 3.30pm excluding travel too and from site.  Whilst we do have a task to carryout out volunteers are encouraged to work at their own pace.

Am I eligible to go on training days?

Training days are restricted to regular volunteers.  As a guide we ask that mid-week volunteers come out a minimum of twice a month and Saturday volunteers need to come out once a month.
